Marketing strategy & tactics

Once upon a time, Melaina and I were office mates - that's where I learned about all the amazing things she could do for womyn. She runs a holistic medicine and nature walk business based on Indigenous knowledge. She practices the Mayan Art of Arvigo therapy which can help infertility, aid digestion and assist with other abdominal issues, and she's a postpartum food doula which means she creates nutritious and healing meals so moms and babes. So many talents!

Melaina had tried to create social media pages and a website on her own and found she was spending too much time online, and not enough time running her business.

Our goal was to finish up some of the projects she had started and to initiate some other targeted tactics in hopes of marketing both her businesses.

The client had already done hours of work on creating and setting up their website. They chose GoDaddy because it was relatively easy to use and economical. Although they were relatively happy with the look and functionality of what they had created, they were hoping some areas could be edited to provide a different look.

There are always limitations to what software can do so Click Minnow went through each page and made suggestions on ways the client could achieve the changes they were hoping to create.

Ultimately, the client felt the website with our recommendations reflected the personality and professionalism of their business, so it was an exciting day when they finally hit the publish button on their site!

Sometimes a great tactic, targeted directly to your audience lands in your lap and what's a client to do but seize the day! This was the case for Blue Stone Healing as a local paper (the Village Voice) had a section at the back that had inexpensive ads but for a more holistic demographic. As part of a promotion, they then offered her the chance to put a bio and a small ad in an insert on holistic practitioners they were releasing the next month. Eureka! This is exactly the type of advertising that could be beneficial due to the audience who would be attracted to it.

Click Minnow was proud to help create an ad for both promotions, and also to help my client navigate the print world of terms like CMYK and 300 DPI.

Although we've gotten away from having so many print materials available as we did in the past (save the trees!), sometimes it is still beneficial.

Melaina felt postcards would be the easiest size for giving out at local events and would also be useful to send out to local businesses to introduce her business and the services it provides.

For both reasons of economy and ease, all three business were featured on a single postcard. In the past we would have had to use a brochure to provide so much detailed information, but now websites are home base for large pieces of textual info. Print materials are designed to drive you to the website instead of answering all your questions in one place. Click Minnow was happy to help this client with both the design and strategy for these print materials.
